Our Story.....

WA Opticians Associates was founded by Optometrist Theo Kannis in 1955.

From early beginnings in Manjimup, to the stores in Perth CBD, WA Opticians Associates has continued to provide excellent quality & great value optical services for over 60 years. Wholly WA owned and operated.

WA Opticians Associates progressed beyond Manjimup and opened for business in Royal Arcade Perth in the 1960's. From there we moved to Cremorne Arcade in Hay Street as the business grew and then further to the Law Chambers across the road. In mid-1980's Theo Kannis and Theo Palassis branched out and opened Budget Specs in Barrack Street Perth. The two stores continued for many years, joining together in the early 1990's to form the Perth store at 122 Murray Street, Perth. By the end of 2006, the practice expanded and opened the second store in Royal Street, East Perth. The current partner optometrists Anna Lim and Pauline Bulich both started their professional careers at WA Opticians. We loved it so much, we bought the practice!

May 2021

After spending half of our 58 years as a city practice, we left the inner-city location at Murray Street and merged the two practices into one at our Claisebrook store. As one of the few WA based independent optometrists in the city, we look forward to a new beginning with expanded facilities and optometric capabilities where we can continue to provide excellent professional service, patient care and good value for optical needs, all in one place.
